MITIS Contributes to the Revival of the Legendary House of Jacques Fath

UAB MITIS has become a supplier of industrial sewing equipment for the new Maison Jacques Fath production facility being established in Paris. In addition to supplying the equipment, MITIS is directly involved in the technical preparation and organisation of the new production workshop.

The Return of a French Fashion Legend

The House of Jacques Fath was founded in Paris in 1937. Jacques Fath became one of the most influential French couturiers of the post-war period, alongside Christian Dior and Pierre Balmain.

His creations were distinguished by expressive silhouettes, sophisticated construction, draping, accentuated waistlines and a bold approach to fabrics and colours. His clients included Ava Gardner, Greta Garbo, Rita Hayworth and Eva Perón.

The Jacques Fath atelier also became an important training ground for a new generation of renowned designers. Hubert de Givenchy, Guy Laroche and Valentino Garavani all began their professional careers at the House.

Following Jacques Fath’s death in 1954, his wife Geneviève Fath continued the work of the fashion house. However, its haute couture division ceased operations in 1957. Almost seven decades later, Maison Jacques Fath is returning with a new creative direction and the ambition to combine the House’s historic heritage with the capabilities of modern production.

MITIS’s Role in Establishing the New Production Facility

During the first stage of the project, MITIS selected and supplied a range of industrial sewing equipment required for the production of high-end garments.

A project of this kind involves much more than the delivery of machinery. It requires a thorough understanding of the materials, garment construction, sequence of production operations and the quality standards expected at every stage of the sewing process.

The equipment has now been delivered to Paris. MITIS is working directly on site, assisting with technical matters, workplace preparation, installation, adjustment and the subsequent commissioning of the supplied machines.

As the production facility is still at an early stage of development, an important part of the work involves coordinating individual technical solutions and adapting the equipment to the practical requirements of the future atelier.

The concept behind the revived Maison Jacques Fath is based on combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. Reproducing sophisticated designs, complex construction and precise finishing in high-quality materials requires professional equipment of an equally high standard.

The work is continuing. The next stage will include the installation and adjustment of the supplied equipment, the development and testing of production operations, and the preparation of the workshop for stable operation.
